Last week we went back to classrooms across Wales to educate and engage young children on money management issues as part of a national campaign called My Money Week.
We held a number of activity sessions at Lakeside Primary School in Cardiff and Fairfield Primary School in Penarth which included interactive videos, games and money themed activities with the aim of giving young children the skills and confidence they need in money matters from an early age.
The sessions proved to be very successful and it is important that children think about money decisions, such as whether to spend or save their pocket money, as these issues will become more important later in life.
It was also a fantastic opportunity to talk with young children about this subject and, as well as being educational, the sessions were fun and enjoyable for the children.
Sophie Silver, one of the teachers at Lakeside Primary School who was involved with the session, said that it was really good to see the children taking such an interest in the money themed activities that we ran and that it is incredibly important to engage children on these issues from an early age.
All the children received one of our special piggy banks and we hope to run more sessions again next year.
